Abstract
Since the position of Mayor was established in London in 2001, we have seen a major expansion of transport infrastructure in the city and a much more innovative and bold approach to transport policy, planning and delivery. Richard will draw on his 18 years of experience working across Transport for London and 15 years as a consultant working globally, to share his thoughts on the success factors behind the planning and implementation of mega transport projects in London over the past 25 years.
Speaker Bio
Richard de Cani is the Chief Officer for Global Business and Markets at Arup, responsible for leading the delivery of the Arup global business strategy. He is a Chartered Town Planner and Transport planner by background, with over 30 years’ experience across city government and consulting, working on a wide range of infrastructure and urban planning projects around the world. During his time in Government, Richard worked for Transport for London and the Mayor of London in the UK, responsible for planning and delivery of the long-term transport strategy for the capital. Through his consultancy project work he has assisted clients address various challenges facing cities including population growth, urbanisation, climate change adaptation, health and wellbeing, poverty and economic growth. His approach to recommended responses is highly integrated, bringing together a combination of specialisms to deliver outcomes.
