The OMEGA 5 & 6 Project

Curriculum Design and Development Study of Executive Short Programmes

The aims of these OMEGA Centre proposed short executive courses, prepared with funding from VREF (as part of the OMEGA CoE extension programme) are essentially twofold:

  • In the case of the Executive Programme on Urban Transport Policy & Planning for the Developing World: to address major sustainable responses to policy, planning and appraisal issues to transport challenges and developments for developing cities. Depending on the needs of potential clients, such capacity-building programmes can be held in London at UCL, at other international venues or be offered as tailor-made in-country events.
  • In the case of the Executive Programme on Mega Infrastructure Planning, Appraisal & Delivery: to impart accumulated global knowledge, experience and evidence-based research concerning sustainable mega infrastructure development derived from the research and advisory work of the OMEGA Centre at UCL. Depending on the needs of potential clients, such capacity-building programmes, can be held in London at UCL, at other international venues or offered as tailor-made in-country events.

Despite involvement by the Centre’s Director in curriculum design for on-line courses offered by the World Bank Institute (WBI), and preparing a response to an approach by the Inter-American Development Bank to the OMEGA Centre for capacity building in mega infrastructure planning and appraisal, no commissioned such have to date been launched by the Centre.
