OMEGA Workshop #3, Athens & University of Thessaly, Volos, Greece

By omega centre on May 22 in News, Workshops.

The 3rd International OMEGA Project workshop was held in Athens and Volos during May 2008. The OMEGA CoE and its Partners presented their work on the data collection for their first case study, and the teams discussed the hypothesis-led questionnaire design and methods for comparative analysis.

Among other things, the last Workshop saw the presentation of:

  • The final Working Paper of the Smaller VREF Project – a summary of the findings on the treatment of complexity, uncertainty and risk-taking in decision-making gained from contemporary thinking in fields outside the transport sector, where these concepts have long been at the milieu of complex problem solving and are believed to be of potential value for future MUTP planning;
  • The hypothesis-led questionnaire developed for parts of the CTRL case study and also employed as a basis for subsequent case study hypothesis-led investigations. This provided the foundations for further communication and exchange among Partners leading to the finalization of a common input to all subsequent hypothesis-led case study investigations, simultaneously allowing each case study to tell its own story and have its own set of hypotheses.

The Workshop was followed by a PhD Student Workshop for all OMEGA PhD students.
