OMEGA Study wins new contract awarded by the Institution of Civil Engineers and the Actuarial Profession, London, UK

In June 2008, the OMEGA Centre received from the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in the UK and the UK Actuarial Profession an invitation to submit a proposal for a tender for a study of ‘How to Incorporate Principles of Sustainable Development within the Design and Delivery of Major Projects’ – with specific reference to mega urban transport projects (MUTPs) and to the treatment of risk assessment in appraisal procedures as outlined by the ICE RAMP Study. The Centre team presented their proposal to a panel of both commissioning parties on 2nd October 2008 and was informed of its successful submission in early November 2008. The 18 month contract is scheduled to commence in January/February 2008 and is anticipated to contribute significantly to the overall OMEGA Study given the complementarities of the two studies.
