MSc MIPAD students visited the construction of the Farringdon Cross Rail Station
The Crossrail station at Farringdon will have two ticket halls. The western ticket hall at the corner of Farringdon Road and Cowcross Street will integrate with the Thameslink ticket hall. The eastern ticket hall, bounded by Charterhouse Street, Lindsey Street and Long Lane, will link to Barbican station. The ticket halls will be connected by 250 metre long underground platforms.
Passengers will be able to enter the station through either ticket hall. Lifts and escalators will take them to the platforms 25 metres underground. Both ticket halls will provide step free access to Crossrail platforms from street level.
Works are underway at the western and eastern ticket halls within the shafts on each site. When the project is complete the shafts will provide ventilation and emergency access, and house mechanical and electrical equipment for the new ticket halls.
