Proposed International Municipal Investment Fund Technical Assistance Facility

Prof. Brian Field

Brian Field, a Senior Research Fellow in the Omega Centre and Visiting Professor at the Bartlett School of Planning, has recently been invited to join the Advisory Council of the International Municipal Investment Fund Technical Assistance Facility, part of the United Nations Capital Development Fund.

In January 2021 Professor Brian Field, an Omega Associate who also teaches on the Bartlett’s MSc Infrastructure Planning, Appraisal and Development (IPAD) programme, was invited by the Director for Local Development Finance at the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) to join the Advisory Council of the International Municipal Investment Fund Technical Assistance Facility (IMIF TAF), which seeks to promote investment in more sustainable urban infrastructure by exploiting project finance and blended finance modalities both more advantageously and more equitably.  Professor Field is particularly well-equipped to undertake this brief, having joined Omega and the Bartlett when he retired from the European Investment Bank (EIB) where he had spent the previous fifteen years as the Bank’s Special Managerial Advisor on Planning and Development and therefore, de facto, EIB’s leading urban policy and municipal finance specialist.
